Lil Wayne - Carter IV Review

(ratings are out of 5 stars. No comment isn’t necessarily a bad thing; just nothing to say about the song.)

INTRO - A typical album intro, hyping up the listeners for the rest of the album. (Beat: *** 1/2 | Lyrics: * 1/2 | Overall: ** 3/4. Solid for an album intro. Nothing spectacular.)

BLUNT BLOWIN’ - The hook is catchy. Similar to Lil Wayne’s older stuff.
(Beat: ** | Lyrics: * 1/2 | Overall: *** 1/4. The hook makes it much better.)

MEGAMAN - No comment.
(Beat: 1/2* | Lyrics: 1/2* | Overall: 1/2*)

6 FOOT 7 FOOT (feat Cory Gunz) - The most fun song to listen to on the album. The sample is great.
(Beat: *** 1/2 | Lyrics: ** 3/4 | Overall: *** 1/4)

NIGHTMARES OF THE BOTTOM - Different. Gets boring quickly, though.
(Beat: *** 1/2 | Lyrics: ** | Overall: *** 1/4. The beat is halfways decent.)

SHE WILL (feat Drake) - No Comment.
(Beat: ** 1/2 | Lyrics: ** | Overall: ** 1/4)

HOW TO HATE (feat T Pain) - Not as good as most of the other T Pain/Lil Wayne collaborations.
(Beat: * | Lyrics: * 1/2 | Overall: *)

INTERLUDE (Tech N9ne & Andre 3000) - Tech shows he’s just as good, if not better, than Busta Rhymes who sounds similar to him. Andre 3000 has one of the best flows in the game.
(Beat: *** 1/2 | Lyrics: *** | Overall: ***)

JOHN (feat Rick Ross) - While everyone keeps making Ross jokes, he continues to be one of the most consistent rappers. He’s everywhere it seems.
(Beat: ** | Lyrics: ** 1/2 | Overall: ** 1/2)

ABORTION - The beat and flow is something to cruise to while driving. One of my favorites.
(Beat: *** 1/2 | Lyrics: **** 1/4 | Overall: ****. Reminds me of Carter III, which was my favorite of the Carters.)

SO SPECIAL (feat John Legend) - I like John Legend, but he’s hit or miss. Don’t like him on this song.
(Beat: * | Lyrics: ** 1/4 | Overall: * 1/2)

HOW TO LOVE - I was skeptical when this song first came out, but the video made it come full circle.
(Beat: **** 1/2 | Lyrics: **** 1/4 | Overall: **** 1/2)

PRESIDENT CARTER - No comment.
(Beat: *** 3/4 | Lyrics: *** 1/4 | Overall: *** 3/4)

IT’S GOOD (feat Drake & Jadakiss) - At first glance, it seems as if the beat makes the song great. Listening to it more, it’s obvious that this is an elementary beat, which Drake, Jadakiss, and Wayne all ride out to make a good song.
(Beat: ** 3/4 | Lyrics: *** | Overall: ***. I do also consider the flow of the song in my overall rating.)

OUTRO (Bun B, Nas, Shyne & Busta Rhymes) - All the rappers spit it hard. Shyne is the weakest, followed by Bun B. Nas is clearly the best on the song, though, which is lyricism and flow.
(Beat: *** 1/2 | Lyrics: *** 3/4 | Overall: **** 1/4. Again, the flow is considered in the overall.)

I LIKE THE VIEW (Bonus) - No Comment.
(Beat: 1/2 * | Lyrics: * | Overall:  1/2 *)

MIRROR (feat Bruno Mars) (Bonus) - Wow. Bruno Mars and Lil Wayne really know how to make a hit. Even as a bonus track.
(Beat: **** 1/4 | Lyrics: **** 3/4 |  Overall: *****. This is the best song on the album. The beat is great for both artists. An instant classic for the hip hop/R&B world.)

(Best: Mirror, Outro, How To Love, Nightmares of The Bottom, Abortion, President Carter)

OVERALL: Several stinkers throughout the album, but it rounds out to be a solid album. You have to get the deluxe version, since it has the best song on the whole album. Much different from Lil Wayne’s previous work, but still a really good album.
*** 3/4.

Dance, Dance, Fall Out Boy

Why don’t you show me the little bit of spine
You’ve been saving for his mattress
I only want sympathy in the form of you crawling into bed with me
